Parish Footpath Wardens Update
The County Council has advised me that due to present circumstances they no longer think it appropriate that Parish Paths Wardens carry out their normal duties. The footpaths remain open of course and at the moment we are “allowed” one walk a day.
It seems evident that a combination of the arrival of better weather at last and more people at home with time on their hands has led to an increase of footpath use. I have had landowners commenting on this increase which unfortunately has also led to an increase in the number of incidences of trespass.
Whilst much of normal life is closing down due to the Covid-19 virus, the parish public footpaths remain open and are likely to remain so.
Please continue to use them for your health and well-being, but use them responsibly and please observe the following advice from the government and County Council:
- Keep groups to no more than two people unless they are members of your household.
- If you encounter other path users keep the recommended distance of six feet or two metres apart.
- If you meet other path users on a narrow section of path consider treating it as a one way bridge, and waiting until the other path user has cleared the narrow section.
- Wash your hands when leaving home, returning home and before eating.
- Respect landowners who may be self isolating.
- Follow the Countryside Code, in particular keep to the paths and show consideration to other path users, landowners and their property.
Regards,
Stuart
