RPC Statement – Yew Tree Development (St Kenelms Road)
On 1st July 2019, the Bromsgrove District Council Planning Committee approved the resubmitted application for eight homes on Yew Tree Farm, Romsley. The Parish Council does not agree with this decision, and unfortunately, we have no right to appeal.
Throughout the past 18 months, we have worked hard to try to ensure that the Developer, Worcestershire County Council Highway Department and Bromsgrove District Council Planning Department were fully aware of the significant impact on road safety and congestion that this development will cause.
Whilst there has been some success in obtaining the widening of the pedestrian footway outside the development, the Parish Council does not believe that this goes far enough. We feel the plans should have carried a clear obligation on the part of the Developer to widen the road and improve parking provision at the location, thereby bringing benefits to everyone in our community.
Going Forward the Parish Council will continue to lobby Worcestershire County Council Highways Department to make the necessary changes to this section of road with the aim of reducing congestion, decreasing the incidences of driving on the pavement and improving overall road safety.
